APEX Sunday Symposium - Oracle APEX Development Team

As with previous years, Sunday is dedicated to presentations from the Oracle Application Express Development team. Learn first-hand about many of the exciting new capabilities as various members of the development team present their ideas. This is a rare opportunity for APEX developers to get a whole day of sessions where you can listen to those building the next release of your development tool. The first session will be a combined keynote address for the APEX and Database tracks presented by Mike Hichwa.

The Oracle Database Cloud is built on the well-known technology of Application Express, but there are ways in which the Database Cloud is different fromthe APEX you know and love. This session will cover areas of technology created for the Database Cloud, such as the data loading capabilities of SQL Developer, as well as the differences between running APEX in your own Oracle Database and the Database Cloud

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM How to Fully Utilize RESTful Web Services with Application Express

Declarative RESTful Web Services was introduced in Oracle Application Express 4.2. Most examples focus on retrieving data. This session will demonstrate how to implement the CRUD database operations with the GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE methods. Data manipulation implies the need for authentication and this, too, will be covered. This session will also demonstrate how to test your RESTful Web Services.

Business Intelligence Symposium

Oracle's BI Symposium at Kscope13 will give attendees a unique opportunity to interact with Oracle BI product management in ways not available during the rest of the Kscope13 conference. Three main sessions will focus on: 1) Oracle BI Strategy and Roadmap, Exalytics, and Mobile, 2) The incorporation of unstructured data as well as self service and departmental use cases for BI analysis, and 3) The convergence of EPM and BI and implications for BI in the Cloud. A highlight of the symposium will be a panel for each of the three sessions where attendees will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and partake in a collaborative discussion with Oracle BI product management.

We will start the symposium with Oracle's BI product strategy, including a sneak peek at upcoming features planned for future releases. This survey will provide context for BI Foundation, BI Applications, Exalytics, Predictive Analytics, and Mobile BI. Enterprise infrastructure enhancements as well as efforts consolidating new acquisitions and older assets will be covered.

With the Endeca acquisition, Oracle plans to create a comprehensive platform to analyze both structured and unstructured information. This session will discuss progress here and the kinds of decisions afforded by including unstructured information. We’ll also discuss the emerging trend of self-service and departmentally-based reporting in Enterprise BI.
